A colossal inflatable rubber duck, a recent addition to the Riverfront Park’s summer festival, made an unexpected bid for freedom early this morning.
The buoyant behemoth, estimated to be over 50 feet tall, apparently detached from its moorings during a strong overnight breeze. Witnesses reported seeing the bright yellow giant bobbing down the Willow Creek, eventually making its way onto the Main Street bridge.
While no serious injuries were reported, the duck’s brief but disruptive journey caused significant traffic delays. Emergency services were quick to respond, using a combination of ropes and a repurposed fishing trawler to corral the runaway waterfowl. The park’s management has launched an investigation into the security of the attraction’s anchoring system.
